DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A woman has been arrested for allegedly robbing an Albany Dollar General at gunpoint. Dougherty County Police Department (DCPD) said the armed robbery happened around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Dollar General on Hill Road. Authorities believe the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Passion Smith, allegedly held a clerk at gunpoint with a large-caliber handgun, threatened to kill them, and then took money from the store’s safe and two cash registers. Smith then drove off in a small black SUV driven by another woman. Police now believe the woman who drove the SUV had no idea about the robbery. She has been cleared of any wrongdoing by police. However, DCPD says Smith was arrested and charged with armed robbery, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of false imprisonment, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The 20-year-old is now being held in the Dougherty County Jail. Have a news tip or see an error that needs correction
