Driver cited after truck crash downs 3 light poles in downtown Leesburg, police say — Valdosta Technology news

LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) — A truck crash downed three light poles in downtown Leesburg on Friday, Oct. 30. Police Chief Christopher J. Prokesh said that the accident happened around 7:15 a.m. near Fourth Street and Walnut Avenue by the Shell Gas station. He said the driver of a F-350 pickup truck crashed into a light pole after claiming something “flew in front of him,” causing two more poles to collapse and leave wires in the roadway.Fourth Street and Walnut Avenue were closed after the accident, and traffic was diverted around the GA-3 bypass between Linden Road and Jordan Road for around two hours. Prokesh said that the driver was not injured in the crash but was cited for failure to maintain a lane. The roadway has since reopened, but utility workers and AT T were still working to repair the 3 downed poles around 4:30 p.m. Have a news tip or see an error that needs correction? Let us know.
